Counsellors

Cat Johnston

Hi, I’m Cat! (any pronouns) I am one of the founders of Kaleidoscope and I have been working with LGBTQ+ individuals since I started working as a counsellor in 2013. I have completed an Advanced Specialist Diploma in GSRD (Gender, Sexual, and Relationship Diversity) Therapy and am also an Associate Lecturer and Clinical Associate with Pink Therapy.

I work from a humanistic, person-centred foundation and have additional training and experience in Single Session Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I believe in taking an adaptive, integrative approach recognising that different models, different things will be helpful to different people at different points in their life. No one size fits all and I will always work to support you as an individual. I strive to make counselling feel like a safe, friendly, and welcoming space for you and encourage you to ask questions about how I work and let me know if you have specific needs or preferences.

I have particular experience in working with young people, suicidal ideation, self-harm, gender identity, trauma, mental health diagnoses, abuse, and self-esteem.
